January 15th Organizing Tip
Today we are going to be tackling the bathroom and items we use to groom ourselves. First we need to purge and dispose.
Medicine Cabinet: Be sure to take the cotton plug out of an opened bottle of medicine. Cotton is a magnet for moisture and can damage medicine. Keep all medicines in their original packaging so that you know what they are. Toss out medication that have changed color, consistency, and smell. As well as tablets that stick together. Simply get rid of expired medication.
Don’t flush expired medication down the toilet, put them safely out of children’s reach into your donation center. When you are ready, visit your local pharmacy because they may collect expired drugs or visit the FDA website to properly dispose of expired medications. Let experts dispose of them properly and be sure to cover up/mark up any personal information with a black marker to protect your privacy.
Shampoos and Conditioners: Toss out the old shampoos and conditioners. Even if you got them from visiting a hotel. Or better yet stop buying shampoos and conditioners and use the ones that you get from staying at the hotel.
Make-up: Time to get rid of all the make up from your old self (the products that you used back in high school…you know that shade of red lipstick). Not to mention harmful bacteria can live in your old make-up, really gross. But what should you do with them? If you bring old containers to MAC and Kiehl’s, you are offered free products in return for recycling their products.
January 15th Organizing Tip: Use separators and dividers to divide different bathroom products that you truly need and want to keep. Below is an example of organizing your make-up. Each section pertains to a specific type of product.

Be the person you want to be today! Stop holding on to stuff you really don’t use!

I especially like the tip about getting rid of make-up that belonged to the person I used to be… there are so many reasons for getting organized but this is one that isn’t talked about quite as much. I’m finding that as I let go of stuff that is no longer important in my life, it frees up space and energy for bigger and better things!
I couldn’t agree more Janet. Letting go of stuff that is no longer important in your life, definitely frees up space and energy for bigger and better things.
